hi jorge,
i appreciate all the footage you and your crew put together. but i have to ask how soft is this tournement, or tour, because i watched two of the most horrendous matches in this tourney. and i'm just wondering were they dogging it that bad or is this an amateur or low level tourny. i saw some really bad play, even from richard broumpton in the match before, who i know is a very good player. they just looked like there lives were on the line. am i being over critical? i'm just used to a little higher level of play in the matches you put on your site!
i especially enjoyed the straight pool match between Thorston and Allen Hopkins! it was a great match.
anyway if anything i've said is offensive, i am sorry! i just expect a lot from your videos, you've set a high standard in the past.
thanks,
Jeremy Bell

Last eight ball shot by Hughes was clutch.

As for the first post...I am sure that PPV goes to these tourneys because good players are going to play. With that in mind, PPV cannot control the outcome nor the quality of play that these players put forth. Take the good with the bad. I would rather watch 10 videos of interchangable good and bad sets than watch one good set. PPV just supplies the reliable and steady media that ESPN Classic just cannot match.

However, at your own risk, you can attempt to attend these tourneys and give the pros a pep talk before a match maybe even tips?

All in good fun. Thanks PPV!

I also agree with "Instroke75". This match along with the other hughes/broumpton match were not "PRO" quality. If these matches are going to be on this site, then you should change the site name from PRO POOL VIDEO to just pool video and no one will expect pro quality matches. We have been spoiled with many previous PRO quality matches.
runarak - Why moan about it..   | Registered | 2007-08-21 08:18:31
This is to the fellows that have to complain..

Last time I checked the videos are free and here for the pool fan at ZERO cost.

Jorges cannot control the play of the players, everyone has an off day and the guys on these matches are all excellent players, some better than others but all very good, none the less.

I hate to hear the moaning and derogatory comments especially when there is no cost. I am pretty sure that you are not forced to watch.. Are you???

Keep your head down!!

Peace

To "runarak" ... These comments are only comments, which the site encourages. It's nice that you want to defend whatever level of play you think it is, but to call a site "PROPOOL" and put this quality on is irresponsible. Put this quality on YOUTUBE and you won't hear another word about it. Cost has nothing to do with anything.... just don't mislead people into thinking they are watching "PROS" by calling it PROPOOL VIDEO.

derbyjack i do not play perfect like you.If you would like to play this terrible player all you have to do get from behind that computer and bet.Jorge you are doing a great thing for pool
derbyjack   | Registered | 2007-08-21 14:36:58
topdog_34 you are right you don't play perfect pool. I guess you missed the first comment by instroke75. Do you also want to play him? And anyone else that voices an opinion on the "PRO" quality of these matches? I don't play much but if I played like that I'd be broke because tons of players play better than that and they are miles away from being on PROPOOLVIDEO. So get off your high horse and improve your game. Again, if you did win our match, beating me is no milestone. But if it makes you feel better lets say we played for $300 a set and you won 2 sets. Good for you, I quit. But somehow those two matches didn't get ant better, did they.

I guess you didn't read my post on the 14.1 match. I was there at the filming and it was a great matchup. In fact the whole tourny was great. The video showes a different perspective and it was very exciting to see the match from a different angle. Jorge also did a great job on the running score. The best of rolls to ya.

So the quality of play wasn't top notch...is that Jorge's fault??? They were filming a pro event and sharing it with us. Be grateful! 8)
jwilliams - I don't usually comment but..   | Registered | 2007-08-26 13:11:26
First I would like to say I enjoy watching the great matches along with the "not so spectacular!" ;-) The fact of the matter is, everyone has their good and bad days, it comes with the territory. Watching guys that I know play close to, if not right at, pro caliber pool struggle makes me feel a little better about my own game when I'm struggling. I've seen the top players in the world have days were they couldn't hit the end rail. This doesn't mean they were any less professional or the matches any less worthwhile. I tend to find that guys who think pro players never miss, really don't know much about the game of pool or what it really takes to play at that level all the time.
Thanks for all the hard work Jorge!
Even the matches that have a little dog in them are greatly appreciated by some of us!

....tssssssssss, people are never happy...

Keep up the good work Jorge!

You know, I'll play these guys all day. But thats not important really is it? Anybody see the match with Cory and Broxson....Cory played absolutley ridiculously bad and still won... everyone has those days. Doesnt make it any better or any worse... fact is that it is free as mentioned and I'm glad to have seen it really!
wpsmithjr - spoiled   | 74.167.86.xxx | 2007-11-23 23:01:10
I guess these people are spoiled from watching the matches on espn... where all the games don't even get shown. I like seeing the bad matches/games too. They were playing in a pool hall during regular business hours, with people running around and the music blaring. Lots of distractions.
Stavros713   | Registered | 2008-03-26 16:05:13
I like to see that these great pool players are human... espn shows all the good matches, and will even shorten the match by showing all the run out racks and skip all the safety battle filled racks... thats so non serious pool players who might be watching the match will keep watching.. but on this site... for the most part we are all serious pool players who watch these matches who know the ins and outs of pool... someone made a good point... I'd rather watch 10 videos ranging from good to bad, than 1 perfect played match... I have to say I love this site, and it would sadden me if jorge or anyone else running this site might get discouraged and filter any matches because of good/ok play...

How can one concentrate in tournament play with that hip hop rappy crap being played in the background?
Ref: Hughes/Lombardo match.

I have just discovered this website, and I think it is just fabulous. Thank you very much for taking the time to post these videos/matches.

Secondly, even though the match wasn't well-played, it was still entertaining and a valuable learning tool because one can learn as much from a mediocre match as a well played match.

Regarding the comment that this match should not be posted on this website because of its title "propoolvideo", I have to disagree. I have checked both of these players on Azbilliards regarding their results, and they have demonstrated that they can compete with the pros, especially Hunter Lombardo. He has moneyed in quite a few tournaments over the years in fields loaded with pros. Secondly, the term "pro" is very subjective nowaday. If someone makes his/her living based on a trade, he/she can be listed as a "pro". He/she doesn't have to be on ESPN and etc. A good example is poker. There are more poker pros in the world than the ones that you see on TV.

Well, that is my two cents worth of opinion. I hope I did not offend anyone. I would rather have these videos posted, so I can watch them than not having any. After all, they are free. I have purchased videos from Accustats, and some of them are not as good as the matches posted on here.

Propoolvideo, you have done the pool community a great service by posting these matches. Thank you!
