I enjoy the commentary also, but a video without commentary is better than no video or a late release. I check this site first thing whenever I get on my computer!!!! I had bad withdrawal symptoms the last few weeks. Thank you for these great videos.

Nothing against John but I think he was pretty fortunate to pull this one off! I've never seen Dan shoot before but I really enjoy his style and shot selection. Besides the 3-4 hung balls (really really close) the only mistakes I think he made was the early miss on a two and a terrible bridged miss on the 3 ball. He reminds me of a gentler Dennis Hatch? =) Thanks again for another great match PPV!

By my calculations, and granting JDT runs the last two balls in the last game, I've got JDT shooting .742 (46 balls, 16 errors) and DL shooting .800 (64 balls, 16 errors). Remember, easy misses count as two errors, and leaving yourself a tough shot and then missing also means two errors.

its amazing how worthless accu-stats tpa is. I've watched alot of their videos and that is one thing I think they do wrong. I could see how the rating could be a good practice tool for an individual but should never be used to judge performance. If I miss the 1 ball, another player runs to the 7 and then I make the 8 and 9. I would have a lesser TPA and still win the game. So missing the 1 ball counts as an error as does missing the 7. But pool players know that missing the 7 is a much bigger error than missing the one. Usually the 1 ball is being shot from a less than prime position even off a good break. But at the 7 ball you should have had time to get in line. There is more strategy to winning a match than just making balls and avoiding errors. I'm not saying a player would purposely miss a ball because his opponent is struggling, but they may miss in that "good way" that leaves there opponent with a tough shot even though they're not totally snookered. Pool is 90% mental, any top pro can break and run multiple racks one of the main things that separates them is the mental strength. That's why Allison Fisher has been on top of the women's game for so long, and Archer on top of the mens. Archer's skills arent' noticeably better than let's say Mika Immonen. But he always come's out with a strong attitude towards the game and isn't rattled easily. I digress, I enjoy the idea of having a measurement during matches but I think more emphasis needs to be placed on winning when computing those measurments. I agree that the Accu-Stats TPA is not always a reliable measure. It's easy to imagine a scenario where Player A shoots .500 and beats player B, who shoots .900, but whose few errors are absolute killers. (Like, say, hanging the 9.)
Unfortunately, it's the only reasonably objective measure of pool skill I know. And I find it a good *general* guide. So I'll keep posting these, at least for now. Look for a thread on AZBilliards about this soon...I'll be starting it.

I don't have a problem with it as a "general" guide as I previously stated, but I think it should be used to measure yourself in practice alone rather than in a match. I believe that it would be possible to come up with a better system that placed more emphasis on winning. What if you cut the error penalty in half on games won when calculating, I think it would be a much more accurate description of who is playing better. That would mean if I won and my opponent lost and we both have two errors I would only get counted as 1. Or vice versa his could get multiplied by 2 or even multiplied by 1.5 still more accurate than accu-stats. I don't have all the answers but I'd like to see something more reliable than Q.B. ratings are in football. But don't take anything personally. I enjoy having an intelligent discussion about pool with someone, it doesn't happen often in the pool halls where I'm from.

Both players show very good knowledge of game; both players are certainly capable of playing better. Of course it always looks easy from this side! lol. I think I'd rather listen to John T's commentary than most other pros; I enjoy his "take" on the game and what he would do in certain situations. I too am coming out of retirement in mid 50's...harder to play with older bones and nerves but John dosn't show it as much as I do! Good going John T to hang with the young bucks!

I agree Cuemanship. It didn't take him long to pull out the trusty jump cue when he needed it. I just wonder if his dislike for it comes from other players making great jump shots against him.
As far as the stats it all comes down to unforced errors wether it's a missede shot or safety and who capitalizes on the opportunities presented to them.
