Now I know why they say beware of pool players with pinky rings. Di Toro showed a lot of guts hanging in there when it looked like Martinez was going to steamroll him. Great match.

It's entertaining the way Rafael chalks his cue. First the right hand, then the left. Good match to both.

I've never met anyone with anything bad to say about John Di Toro. He is one of the most stand-up guys that you will find in the pool and billiard world. Not only has he taken the Florida Pro Tour from obscure regional status to the national caliber tour that it now is, but he is also a great player in his own right.

When a match becomes public, it is normal, and interesting, to discuss about it. But what i like in those discussions, is when they are constructive and objective.

I won't discuss about the man, because i don't know him. All i can say is thanks for what he's doing for the Seminole Florida Pro Tour, and thanks for the commentaries on PPV. (for the "student" in pool that i am, they are a gold mine.)

About his play, he lacks precision in his cueball control ( sometimes too long, sometimes too short, sometimes bad angles on the rails ),which force him to play hard and complicated shots.
He seems to have a good mental, he was led three to nothing in that race to eight, and finally won the match.

Anyway, this is a hot seat semi final in a tournament with very good players. You don't play a hot seat semi final (and win it) thanks to your luck or hazard.

I have heard somewhere (but i'm not sure) that John is a non professional poolplayer. If it is true, then the way he plays is really impressive. With more time for training, all those imperfections will decrease.

I wish one day i could play like this.

After missing an easy 9 ball early on, John put it together nicely. Looks like tough pockets; possibly 4 and 1/2 inch or smaller! Enjoyable match...thanks for the opportunity...certainly cheaper than accustat billiards!lol
