Johnny played pretty good, and Vivian put up a good fight but young players can learn from this match that in a short race you can't really afford to make any mistakes. Vivian missed only a few shots and made a couple of position errors but that's all it takes to allow a player of Archer's caliber to take the set. Thanks again Jorge for bringing us a great video.
P.S.
Great angle on Archer's break.

Solid match. Vivian put up a solid game but against Johnny Archer, 99% of the time you need your great game to beat him. Watching Johnny Archer break is like teaching a beginner how to break.
1) Follow through.... check
2) Cueball control.... check
3) Powerful break.... check

people should really do some research before posting comments on this site. I have had debates on here too but I have never went into a debate without a knowledge of the subject matter. Villadellu, you should perhaps watch more than one match to judge a player. Vivian has been around for years as a top player. You can't judge a player on one match alone. I have seen johnny play some shoddy matches himself, he will tell you the same thing. Johnny may take the match over Vivian in a race to 100 but in a short race it could go either way on any given day.

One of the things that I've always liked about the Texas Tornado is how consistent she is on her pre-shot routine. She uses the chalk as a mental trigger and only sets it down when she has accepted the shot in her mind. All things considered, she played a heck of a match against the top player of the 90's.

I like Archer's break!, see how he follows through. Well actually i like every thing Johnny does on a pooltable.
One thing Surprised me about Vivian, it is how fast she plays some shots!,incredible.
Ah, Vlladellu, remember to be respectfull AND pertinent next time you leave a comment, thanks.

In case anyone cares, by my calculations, JA shot .940 (47 balls, 3 errors) and VV shot .821 (55 balls, 12 errors).
Keep in mind that by Pat Fleming's system, not everything that looks like an error is counted as one, and easy misses are counted as two errors. For instance, when JA kicked at a ball, hit it, and left an easy shot, by my understanding of the TPA system, that's not an error.

villarea
l's game is very rough when compared to someone like archer. in this match, villareal's runouts were all done w/ rough shape; her cueball control wasn't nearly as good as johnny's. when johnny ran out, he rarely bumped the cueball into other balls by accident, whereas villareal got bumped into shape quite a few times. villareal may be a good shotmaker, but her cueball precision is definitely lacking. btw, my conclusion isn't formed by watching just this match; i've seen villareal's matches over the years (TV, tournaments, etc.) and her game never seemed to change.

JoeJoe Some of what you saw from her bumping balls into shape was done on purpose. Vivian uses other balls at times to get shape as do all good players. She doesn't have the precision cue control that archer has but I too have watched her for years and have seen her use other balls for position play.
