Match started off real slow but got going the second half. Corey was getting really crappy rolls. I think the last rack played summed up the whole match. Corey would somehow find a pocket to scratch and Brian would get a few rolls his way.

This is what is so great about this website. It shows the truth about pool that you don't see on ESPN. You can see that even top of the line professionals like Corey Deuel can make the same mistakes that you and I make and can be defeated by a lesser-known opponent. I feel that far too often television does a disservice to pool. If you think about it, if they want to show a pro match on TV, lets say a race to 7, that's a potential of 13 games. If they have one hour to show this match, minus introductions, commer
cials, presentation of the check, etc., there's about 40-45 minutes of actual pool. Of course, they're only going to show exciting games where players break and run, make some remarkable shot, or make the game ball on the break and the average viewer watches this and assumes that these players almost never miss and are virtually unbeatable. In addition, the commentary on TV isn't geared towards those familiar with the game. On this site, when there is commentary, it is thoughtful and insightful. Keep up the good work.

I totally agree with you. Commentary from ESPN doesn't go through the game thoroughly enough. Yesterday I saw Johny Archer playing one of my favorite players Robb Saez. It was a race to 7 and the commentator was teamed up with Rodney Morris. 90% of the racks were Johny running out or Robb making a bad play. On this website, it really shows that pros do make simple mistakes and there isn't a runout EVERY time from a well known pro like Johny Archer. The tv pool I see (e.g ESPN) doesn't really show the grind (or what I like to say, soul of pool) of what an actual match produces. That's why I'll keep watching this website for some good matches and excellent commentary.

No luck with Corey! It's the second time that he's on PPV (the first match was against David Broxson i think), and it's the second time that he doesn't play his A game.

Gypo,
Corey actually appears in three previous matches. He plays Broxson twice in the 2007 Florida Pro Tour season opener in Melbourne--in the hot-seat semi and the final. And he also plays Strickland in the semi at last year's Steve Mizerak Championship. A lot of fireworks in that one:
